Ninja 650r what kind of gas
Until putting 94 in it! I rode the bike for a short ride and was feeling the bike was falling apart! Took me some time to remember the high octane gas in tank! Last edited: May 22, Lightcycle Rounder of bolts, Dropper of tools Site Supporter. I've never heard of that before.
Normally, it's the opposite problem. Low octane gasoline in a high-performance, high-compression-ratio engine results in pre-detonation or knock, which causes a rattling or vibration sound in the engine. Putting high octane gas in a vehicle that doesn't need it should affect nothing but your wallet.
Lightcycle said:. Click to expand When I had my Ninja r I've never experienced a difference in the amount of vibration due to a different octane rating in the fuel. Most of the time I ran regular 87 but in the last fill up before winter , I would put the Shell I didn't notice any difference on the first few rides next Spring. In addition I also had the fuel stabilizer in the tank.
Are you sure you didn't get bad gas or somehow have some additional moisture.. I know the the fuel overflow hole sometimes gets plugged and water buildup in the fuel cap area can get into the tank.
Before you jump to conclusions, I'd run through a couple more tanks of gas to be sure. Run through your tank of high-test to empty, fill with 87, run till empty, then fill with 94 again to see if the symptoms stop and come back. I'm skeptical that it's the high-octane gas causing your vibrations. TK4 Well-known member. Fuel injected motorcycles don't care what octane fuel you put in as long as it meets minimum requirements as per your owner's manual.
Higher octane than recommended is just wasting your money. As others have suggested, you may have a problem with leftover stale fuel from winter storage, but if the problem persists get someone to have a look at the bike. Throttle bodies are smaller 36mm, down from 38 , intake ports are slimmer, new camshafts have reduced operating angle and valve overlap, and a revised airbox and exhaust improve acceleration, sound and midrange power.
Compared to the Ninja , peak horsepower is down by 5, peak torque is about the same and redline has been lowered from 10, rpm to 9, rpm. Between 3, and 6, rpm, the Ninja makes 0. Numbers and specs are one thing, but from the saddle, the new Ninja feels punchier and sounds rowdier. It still makes that docile chugga-chugga-chugga sound at idle, but a good twist of the throttle reveals a peppy intake noise and more vigorous exhaust note. The previous model always struck me as a bit flaccid and flabby, especially when compared to bikes like the Suzuki SV and Yamaha FZ But a stronger midrange, significant weight loss, sharper steering geometry and more aggressive sound have given the Ninja a new lease on life.
Read our Kawasaki Ninja vs. To complement its sportier look and performance, the seating position has been revised accordingly. The clip-on handlebars, which attach to risers that are well above the triple clamp, are an inch farther forward and 1. The fuel tank, which has less capacity 4. On the road, the new Ninja feels compact and light, and it delivers a respectable level of performance for the price.
With the engine used as a stressed member of the new trellis frame, the bike feels solid and well planted. During the press launch we did repeated photo passes on several curvy sections of road, and just like running through the same corners lap after lap on a track gives you a clear picture of how a bike handles, those photo passes gave me confidence in how well the Ninja holds a line.
It changes direction effortlessly yet never feels twitchy or unstable. The 41mm KYB fork with 4. They provide a fairly plush ride and only reveal their limitations when pushed hard on rough roads. The new 2-piston Nissin front calipers squeeze mm petal discs with surprising authority, but the 1-piston rear caliper is pretty spongy. New lighter, more responsive Bosch 9. Other nice features include the Kawasaki Air Management System KAMS , a radiator fan duct that directs hot air down to the ground, away from the rider, as well as five-way adjustable clutch and brake levers, generous underseat storage and new instrumentation.
Available accessories include the extended-reach seat, liter top case, tank pad, seat cowl, radiator guard and frame sliders, and the steel tank accommodates a magnetic tank bag.
The new Ninja is a no-nonsense motorcycle that occupies the sweet spot between user-friendliness and performance. Its engine is smooth with strong midrange, a linear power curve and good throttle response, and it delivers excellent fuel economy 51 mpg so far, better than the 47 mpg estimated by the fuel consumption indicator.
