I have chocolate mint in a pot, it wilts when it needs water. My potted orange mint dried out, that's coming back now but is dried looking on the bottom half. I have unknown mint planted near a lilac bush where it doesn't get anywhere near enough sun, and the lilac sucks up all the water.

I think that one's done for the year, but it will be back next year. It is possible to kill mint, I bought a Kentucky Colonel mint this spring and forgot about it. It dried out, and even potting it up and watering well didn't bring it back :. Yea, I think she didn't come the last day or two because there were lots of ripe ones still on the plants when we got home. I picked them all just after I took these photos. Of course, those are indeterminates and far far away from these. Today I found what seems to be mold I touched it and grey dust floated off on the stem of one. I just don't get how in one week without my being here, they all suddenly came down with a disease. Unless my picker was not too careful about touching things. Cutting too far back to bare woody stems or removing too much foliage stresses the plant and often kills it.

Don't prune your lavender after late August. That encourages tender new growth that'll be killed by winter cold, weakening the plant so it might not make it through another season.

How do you save an overwatered lavender plant? To save an overwatered plant, start by moving it out of the sun and into a shady spot. Then, carefully remove the plant from its pot and place it on top of a baking rack for several hours so the roots can dry.

If any of the roots are brown or smell like they're rotting, prune them off. Will dead lavender grow back? So, while your lavenders may not be totally dead, they are probably not worth saving.

Observe the area of the stem that you scratched. Can plants recover from root rot? Wash the pot thoroughly with a bleach solution. If possible, dip the remaining healthy roots in a fungicide solution to kill off any possible root rot fungus.

After treating root rot in the plant, repot the plant in clean potting mix. Hopefully now the plant will recover and you will get your beautiful houseplant back. Why isn't my lavender flowering? Water stress, from too much or too little, delays and decreases flowers and aromatic oils.

Overhead watering reduces flowering and causes lavender to splay apart. Drip irrigation works best to keep blooms coming and prevent disease. Always allow "Hidcote" lavender's soil to dry thoroughly before watering again.

Lavender plants prefer a slightly arid, warm climate. In humid environments, the plants should be watered less often and be planted where there is plenty of air circulation.

Lavender is drought-tolerant once established. Yellowing leaves can be the result of too much or too little water.
